Write to us about anything — a bug, a refund, your data, or a route she got wrong. We answer within two business days. If you are reporting something that went wrong on a drive, telling us roughly when and where helps a great deal.

Getting started

Setting up

  1. Open Michika on your iPhone and sign in with Apple.
  2. Allow location when asked — it is what makes navigation work. Michika asks for nothing else; there is no microphone prompt in this version.
  3. Connect your phone to CarPlay and open Michika from the CarPlay home screen.

The phone app works on its own as well, and a route you start in one place continues in the other — plug in mid-drive and she picks up where she was.

She does not appear on my CarPlay screen

CarPlay only shows apps it has been told about. Check that your phone is unlocked the first time you connect, and that Michika is not hidden — on your iPhone, open Settings › General › CarPlay, choose your car, and make sure Michika is in the list of apps shown rather than the hidden ones. Some cars need the ignition cycled after installing a new app.

She is silent, or speaks the wrong language

Her spoken guidance can be switched off in Michika's settings — check Audio there first. She speaks English, Chinese and Japanese, and reads street names in the language they are written in; pick the one she uses under Language.

Plans and billing

What do the plans include?

Michika is a subscription app. Navigation, her voice and her presence on the screen all need a plan. The two plans are Pro and Max: Pro puts Shinano on the screen in her classic look, calls every turn in her voice and switches on AI-assisted routing; Max adds Lzebul, Milltina and every character released after them, every outfit and colourway, the online character library, and premium voices.

New accounts get a free trial of Max — 7 days, with a limit of 30 trips (it ends at the 7-day mark, or earlier once 30 trips are used). We grant it ourselves, so there is no card and nothing to cancel; when it ends, you'll need a plan to keep driving with her. It is one trial per account.

Managing or cancelling a subscription

Subscriptions are billed by Apple, not by us, and are managed on your device: open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops the next renewal and leaves the plan running until the period you have paid for ends — the app shows that date. Deleting the app, or deleting your Michika account, does not cancel a subscription.

Refunds are also handled by Apple — request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Tell us as well if something went wrong; we would rather fix it.

I paid and my plan has not appeared

Purchases restore themselves when the app next reaches our servers, so the usual fix is to make sure you are online and reopen the app. If it still has not appeared after a few minutes, email us with the date of the purchase and we will sort it out.

Your account and your data

Deleting your account

In the iPhone app, tap Account and then Delete account; the same button is on the Michika screen in CarPlay. This removes your conversations, saved and recent places, settings and entitlement straight away, and it cannot be undone. If you would rather we did it, email us from the address on your account.

Two things stay behind on purpose, so that deleting an account cannot be used to start a second free trial: an opaque marker for your Apple sign-in, and when your trial started and how many trial trips you used. Nothing else survives.

Revoking Sign in with Apple in your iPhone's Apple Account settings signs you out but does not delete your data. Sign in again and use Delete account, or email us.

What we know about you

The short version: your Apple sign-in identifier, your position while you are actually navigating or asking her something location-aware, and your last ten destinations, which stay on your phone (the server does not store them). We do not keep a trace of your movements or a log of where you have driven, we do not run ads, and we do not sell anything to anyone. The privacy policy is the full account, including who processes what.

Driving safely

She is a companion, not a co-driver

Set your destination before you move off. Keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel. Road signs, closures, and the law of wherever you are always take priority over anything Michika says — routes and arrival times are estimates and can be wrong. Michika is not an emergency service; in an emergency, call your local emergency number.
